The journey of building a house by building a house grows. A growing house that is built in stages. Initially we bought a plot of land then 2 years later we built the first floor. With this limited land, my dream is just to have an open space house with a living room adjacent to the garden. And finally the dream house came true, the living room next to it had a mini courtyard and also a catroom. This is my journey looking for a house 🖤 I decided to buy a house even though I would live alone. The decision is quite long. From the initial intention of a mortgage until, thank God, the construction from the old developer was able to save me money again, and I could make payments without a mortgage. Daśa Cavana is a house purchased from a developer in a buy-build condition. But it's extraordinary to wait a year for construction. But what I like about the place where I bought the house is that this house can change its plan and facade as long as it uses a triangular facade. So you could say, Daśa Cavana's facade is his own design. The process is definitely full of emotions. There are happy, sad, disappointed, happy. But finally when the house was finished, this became a place for me to take shelter and dream. My Home Story — This is our house which has a "connecting door" to our parents' house — Our house is an individual developer's house, a building of 4 houses in a row built exactly the same — Coincidentally, of the 4 houses, there was 1 house that was right behind our parents' house. This house is our first house, which we started building when we entered our 4th year of marriage. Never imagined before that we could be at this stage.. 🥹🫶🏻 After almost a year of hunting from second-hand houses to new houses, thank God, we finally matched with an indent house developer, where we could freely design this house with our own creations without the help of an architect. This house was actually not the first choice because the location was a bit on the edge of town, but in the end we decided to buy this second hand house considering the land area, as well as a safe and comfortable environment. In March 2021, after completing the renovation from the middle to the back, we started to live in this house... for 3 years this house was in the process of slowly changing from furniture and decor items with monochrome tones to earthtones (the last slide for example the kitchen & dining area) Starting with changing the color of the decoration details in the kitchen, then changing the black and white dining table to white wood... so starting with the decor items and furniture first, then after collecting the budget we installed vinyl flooring and wall panels. Actually, the granite floor is still good, but there are areas that have not been renovated (the developer's granite floors are of different sizes, some have stains that are difficult to remove), so this is the main reason to install vinyl flooring. We hope our dream house can reach old age here, it's special not because it's the house but it's a "place" where it's rare to have weather this cold in Indonesia, as an equatorial country. The location is at the foot of Mount Tangkuban Perahu, with an uphill road, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, but that's okay because this is what we were looking for :) Born and raised in Sumatra, for dozens of years in Kalimantan, finally we (husband & I) agreed, this is our last destination. Home Stories The journey to find a house took approximately 2 years. From the start, I looked around my husband's office and had to include the municipality because I was thinking about administrative management so that it wasn't far away, for example, including the district if there were administrative needs, it was quite far. Finally, in 2016, we found what we wanted & decided to build a house within 5 months. I was matched with this house in 2015. Thank God, the house is still in the middle of the city with a budget that we can reach. Initially this house was type 45, with a building area of 6x8 at that time. 2 bedrooms without kitchen. From 2015 - 2023, I renovated 3 stages. 2015: Added kitchen + 1 bathroom. Build Garage + warehouse. 2020: add 1 bedroom and dining room. 2023: garage renovation 2024: the area of my house is now 11x11 m2, expanding to the side taking up the remaining land, leaving 50 cm on the right and 50 cm on the left for the gutter and the road to the back of the house. When we first bought this house for investment purposes, we had no intention of using it as a place to live, so we chose the smallest & cheapest unit at that time with a land area of 60m2 consisting of only one room, one living room and one bathroom without a kitchen. As time went by I thought about renovating the house so that this immovable investment was not in vain, the condition of the house being unoccupied of course over time it would be destroyed because there was no one to look after it. To encourage us to care for this house, we carried out renovations so that when we visited this house it felt comfortable & definitely inspired to take care of it. Long story short, after the renovation, we ended up coming to this house more often, especially after I became a creator, there were lots of activities I had to do in this house. Currently we still don't live permanently because of school constraints for our children who are still in elementary school, so we are still going back and forth to our in-laws' house which is close to our children's school. Short story of a house with a large yard. The beginning of our interest in having a house with a spacious outdoor concept was when we moved to Pekanbaru, the office provided an official residence with a large but unkempt yard. While occupying the official residence, I arranged the yard so that it was comfortable for children to play in. Since then we decided to have our own house by looking for and buying a 500m2 plot of land which is located close to the official residence. We bought the land in 2011 and built the house in early 2012. The construction process only took 8 months because the house design was simple, and more open area. When my husband’s grandmother passed away in 2016, her house, which was about 3000 square meters in size, was put up for sale. However, it was difficult to find a buyer interested in purchasing such a large property. Long story short, my husband had a college friend who was a cluster developer. When he visited and saw the grandmother’s house, he agreed to collaborate with us. This cluster would be built on our land, designed and marketed by the developer, and we would share in the proceeds from the property sales. There are a total of 18 houses in the Ruma Setu cluster, and we took two units. Our house is on a corner. Our house was completed at the end of 2018, along with two other houses used as show homes (see slides 4 & 5). We renovated it in 2021 by adding a rooftop and laundry room. At the beginning of 2023, we added a full canopy on the rooftop with an open-close roof model, as we wanted to use the area to play ping pong. We maintained the original façade and design of the house as provided by the developer. For the house design and room layout, we followed the original design by the architect, Ferdy Apriady - Ayya Architects.
