After plants, the most important interior accessory in my house is lighting :) I don't really like the cold, bright feeling characteristic of fluorescent lights, so I rarely turn on the ceiling lights and usually just use the regular lighting. Even just turning on the lights makes the atmosphere of the house much cozier and warmer.
