A tip for the kitchen is to have open storage like baskets or bowls for fresh fruits and vegetables on the countertop so you can know what fruits and vegetables you have easier, and since fruits and vegetables double as decor if the storage baskets are see through or transparent 🍅🧅🍋 Since I love the hues of fruits and veggies, I’ll purchase fun fruits or veggies sometimes like a white sweet potato or a large heirloom tomato that looks like it’s straight off a painting. 🖼️ One more kitchen tip that I’m loving is to place a small dish as a magnet on your fridge so you can use it as decor and a pill dish where you can place your vitamins. 💊 What kind of kitchen tips do you have? Horses and birds, for example. I have more pieces depicting horses and birds than any other animal. Or sculptures of the human form. Vessels. All of this is art. Art is everywhere. Incorporate some sculptural pieces in your home as well as artwork on the walls and you’ll have a home that is not boring to look at. Be minimalistic about your decor if you wish. That’s okay, but at least have some decor. I am not a minimalist, but I still have some sense of when there is too much. So, I will edit where I feel it’s necessary ACCORDING TO MY TASTE. By the way… there will be people that say, “it’s your home. There are no rules for decorating. Do what you wish. Display what you like.” They are somewhat correct. But what really makes a place look good to many people and in the eyes of designers is when the place looks COHESIVE. Do you agree?

I furnish my apartment on a small budget. I buy what I can afford and I buy from thrift and antique stores as well as from U.S. chains like Target, Ross, Home Goods, Walmart, Burlington, Overstock.com and T.J. Max. All of the furniture that I have are not at all expensive. I’ve even had to assemble some pieces because a lot of affordable furniture has to be assembled by the buyer. They say “you get what you pay for” when it comes to quality. You can get very nice-looking furniture that sometimes are not very well built. But here’s the thing…There is never any rough-housing at my place. There aren’t any kids living here. Nor are there pets. I’m gentle with my things. That’s why my furniture is in good condition and I’ve had a few of them for several years or more. The point I’m making is that you don’t have to spend a lot to have a home that yourself and others love to look at and spend time in. You have to have the talent to pull it all together. I’m self-taught when it comes to that by way of reading and listening to what experts on design and decor have to say. But perhaps what teaches me more is studying others homes in magazines, Pinterest and Instagram. And now I include the content that I see here on Ohouse as another influence.

Despite all of the negatives reviews, I went ahead and ordered the set and I’m very happy with the purchase.Quality- look great but you get what you pay for. They’re not solid wood although they feel good but it’s the equivalent to an IKEA purchase, or less as far as quality. They’re strong enough to put my large tv on with no concern about collapsing or tipping over.Assembly- they came with all the parts and tools you need. I don’t like assembling things and it was the end of the day and I was tired so it probably took me longer than it should have. (1 hr for 1 cabinet but once you do the first, the second is mucin easier).Just like with any assembly, be careful. I accidentally screwed a longer screw where it didn’t belong and since it’s so cheap, it broke right through but fortunately it’s in the back where it can’t be seen. It was on the first one I assembled. Again, my fault for the error. My only concern for any future buyer is that they’d get a lemon as some folks have who left reviews. I received a complete set with all parts and all in excellent condition.Btw- the set of 2 came in 1 heavy box, not in 2 separate boxes. #TVStand #MidCenturyModern #IndoorPlants

This is our dining area! I know the PH5 light is so popular now, but it has been my dream dining room light since 2019. I told myself that the first thing I’m gonna purchase when I buy a place is that PH5, which I did! Since this place is more of an investment property that we’re planning to move out of when we purchase a long-term place in a few years, I’m trying not to buy too much pricey furniture right now. However, things like lighting are very easy to fit in a different place even though I don’t know what kind of house we’re gonna be purchasing in the future! I did wanna find a less pricey dining table since the size that fits here likely won’t suit our next home, but I really couldn’t find a good all-black table like this. Our table is from HAY, and it’s especially beautiful with the matching bench. I definitely love our dining area so much, and all house guests have been telling us how beautiful it is! Also, if you like taking photos of your home-cooked meals, I highly recommend a black table. It makes things more chic and stylish even if it’s a simple egg breakfast like my photo here! :)
